Night Pasture Farm:
Inspired by a grand tree on the property, the central fireplace anchors the design while the sheltering timber frame boldly reaches out, creating a unique and beautiful structure.
Project Description:
This 3,950 square foot home is the envy of all nature lovers: a true-to-life vision of the homeowners’ dream, a custom timber frame “tree of life” structure enveloped within a framework of transient elements of corresponding and contrasting media.
With spectacular views to the valley below and mountains beyond, an open central living space and its connections to the outdoors were of paramount importance. Abundant stone from the site is utilized in the landscape design for retaining and seating walls defining outdoor entertaining areas, all easily accessible from the home and the outdoor kitchen. The hand crafted timber frame was supplied and erected by Vermont Timber Works. The warmth and beauty of the timber frame contrast and compliment the solidity of the central masonry fireplace.
The timber frame truly takes center stage in this home, as seen by the exposed post and brace in the end wall. The second floor is framed around the timber, which extends through the ceiling to the homeowner’s office above, where it is also designed into the décor.
